ARES® of Albemarle County, VA, is the Amateur Radio Emergency Service® group serving Albemarle County, the City of Charlottesville, and the University of Virginia. We are a group of volunteer amateur radio operators who have chosen to put our skills, experience, and equipment at the disposal of local emergency managers and first responders in case of disaster. Albemarle ARES® is part of the national ARES® organization, a program of the American Radio Relay League (https://www.arrl.org).

Albemarle ARES® works very closely with its sister organization, Albemarle AUXCOMM Inc, a non-profit corporation dedicated to recruiting and training volunteer ICS Auxiliary Communicators. Most activities of the two organizations are joint. For more information about capabilities, exercise schedules, and technical resources, see the Albemarle AUXCOMM site at https://www.auxcommalb.org.
